Osler is a dynamic and exciting place to further your career or carve out a new path.Reporting to the Director, Student Programs and Legal Recruitment, the StudentPracticeManager will develop and manage a centralized resource allocation system to distribute work and growth opportunities equitably and efficiently to summer and articling students, while ensuring appropriate staffing levels are maintained across all practice groups.
In this new role, the successful incumbent will possess a passion for innovation and strong project management skills.Major Responsibilities:
Develop systems and protocols to track the quantity and quality of work students receiveEstablish and implement work allocation best practicesDeliver and reinforce docketing and practice management training to studentsRegularly meet with students and lawyers to facilitate optimal resourcing and to oversee the delegation of non-billable tasks and projectsProvide input to the Director, Student Programs and Legal Recruitment and the Students Committee on student resourcing and capacity levels, to assist with annual student intake numbers, rotation planning, secondments and related recruitment initiatives Position RequirementsEducation and ExperienceThis position requires an undergraduate degree and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a large law or professional services firm in a supervisory or managerial role, or a law degree and experience practicing in a large law firm coupled with an appetite to acquire strong management and program implementation skills.Knowledge and Skills Strong collaboration skills and ability to thrive in a team settingInnovative, analytical and process improvement orientedHighly developed organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple demands and prioritiesExcellent interpersonal, listening and communication skillsClient service oriented with a friendly, professional demeanor andTechnologically savvy with proficiency in the full Microsoft Suite, Outlook and SharePoint For the safety of firm members and visitors, Osler is committed to complying with the recommendations of public health authorities, including with respect to adopting mandatory vaccination policies.
