Your Opportunity Under the direction of the Director I&ITS, the Manager, IT Operations & Support is a subject matter expert as a Workstation Engineer, responsible for planning, directing and supervising the design and implementation of technologies related to all aspects of workstation computing, OSD, application packaging/deployment, Active Directory, GPO, SCCM and expert at troubleshooting complex workstation subjects.

This professional is the principal administrator and technical resource for developing the Faculty's workstations and application deployments.

This position has the primary responsibility for planning and oversight, business operations, human resources administration, communications, data management and financial management of the IITS Service Desk at the Faculty.

In this position, you will be responsible for the leadership and management of in the daily IT operation within the Faculty and in collaboration with departments and units across the Faculty and the University.

You will use a mix of management and leadership skills to lead 6 unionized staff members and casuals, and coordinate all the work involved in projects associated with workstation infrastructure, the day-to-day maintenance of systems and other activities related to field services work.

You will be responsible for the strategic development of measures to evaluate the effectiveness of the IT operations within the Faculty.

You must maintain current knowledge and strategic vision in developing future technologies with regard to their potential application to the university environment, and possess an expert knowledge of enterprise LAN and WAN technologies.

As a member of the Information and Instructional Technology Services (I&ITS) department, you will share its vision with regard to client-centricity, administrative and operational excellence, team cohesion, and promotion of I&ITS best practices.

Qualifications EDUCATION:

A university degree in Computer Science, or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

ITIL certification an asset.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 7 years of relevant and progressive experience in IT operations, preferably in a post-secondary education or health-care institution.

Experience managing SCCM infrastructure, deploy operating systems, deploy software applications, handle software updates, ensure security compliance and troubleshoot issues.

Experience with conducting privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and developing privacy policies and procedures in compliance with PHIPA and other privacy laws.

Experience meeting the needs of stakeholders such as faculty, students, and staff.

Experience leading and managing staff, preferably in a unionized environment, and building and maintaining effective working relationships with diverse groups.

Experience with developing and monitoring budgets and forecasting costs, and financial planning.

SKILLS:

Excellent management and leadership skills, ability to mentor and inspire collaboration and teamwork, and the ability to effectively lead and manage change in a complex and collaborative setting.

Proven client relationship management and highly developed skills in oral and written communication, including effective facilitation, negotiation and presentation skills.

Strong project management skills, overseeing multiple projects or initiatives.

Proven track record of successful implementation of IT projects.

Good problem solving and analytical skills; sound judgement, ability to recognize and assess operational significance of a problem; control/mitigate the risk and set priorities accordingly; analyze complex situations and implement practical solutions quickly; strong ability to assess risks and controls of network and telecommunications infrastructure and operations.

OTHER:

Good working knowledge of the key principles and requirements of PHIPA, such as the collection, use, and disclosure of personal health information.

Knowledge of emerging privacy and security threats and best practices to address them in a healthcare context.

Strategic approach to planning; ability to deal with senior university administrators in a manner which facilitates cooperation; high degree of political acuity, tact, diplomacy, credibility, and judgment.

Strong service-oriented approach with a continuous improvement mindset; and ability to understand and work with a multi-faceted user community.

Deep understanding of service management principles and frameworks (e.g.

ITIL), including incident, problem, change, and service level management.

Ability to work under pressure of high volume and expectations, while meeting multiple deadlines for multiple projects.

Proven commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity.

Demonstrated broad knowledge of IT systems, infrastructure, instructional, classroom and audiovisual technologies.

Both broad and in-depth knowledge of industry innovations and emerging technology in general IT industry.
