The Environment Manager works with the project personnel to develop, implement, and maintain an environmental management system at project level, including procedures, programs and monitoring the environmental aspects to meet compliance with Project requirements.

They will be responsible for all matters related to environmental management and sustainability and shall submit sufficient documentation to Contracting Authority.

What You’ll Do Here:

Under the direction of the Project Director, Environmental Director, or equivalent, the Environmental Manager has defined authority for ensuring the day-to-day implementation of the Environmental Management System and auditing and reporting its performance Being integrated in a project based role for large transformative iconic infrastructure projects Manages all environmental issues associated with the Project on a day-to-day basis, including overseeing the environmental monitoring program Establishing and maintaining working relationships with relevant Environmental Authorities and Interested Parties Ensure effective operation of the Environmental Management Plans and Environmental Protection Plans on a day-to-day basis Ensure environmental issues and requirements are met in accordance with the Project Agreement Provide direction, support, and leadership to the project team in all matters relating to environmental regulations, permits and requirements Develop, implement, and maintain an effective health environmental management system for the project, in conformance with the ISO 14001 standard requirements Support the project team in the preparation and submission of applications for environmental permits, and their management Oversee the environmental aspects of the project design Work closely with the Technical Services team to ensure all environmental aspects are addressed and project schedules are met Coordinate with environmental sub-contractors to provide specialty input and direction, (if sub-contractors are necessary) Analyze and identify leading and lagging trends to assist in environmental protection and compliance Develop new and revised environmental practices and procedures as required Provide environmental training and support where required Participate in and/or provide direction to others conducting environmental considerations, review site needs, including identify and implement corrective actions to ensure compliance and knowledge Compile quarterly and annual reports to update ongoing environmental processes and address current issues Provide recommendations for implementation of corrective actions and suggests program improvements Work with client representatives to resolve identified issues and opportunities Monitor, coordinate, and implement environmental programs Ensure compliance with all related environmental activities and identify and manage risks; verifies and monitors associated training requirements Implement an environmental audit program and prepares improvement plans and corrective actions based on the findings Ensuring compliance with all of design-builders’ environmental obligations for the Project and the day-to-day Implementation of Design-Builder’s environmental obligations set out in the Contract Direct all aspects of Design-Builders environmental programs for the Project, including the annual environmental reporting activities Ensure environmental issues are addressed and requirements are met in accordance with the Contract and all Environmental Reference Documents Overseeing the environmental monitoring and follow-up program in accordance with the Environmental Reference Documents, additional environmental reports, Environmental law and any applicable permits, licences, approvals, and agreements Establish and maintain working relationships with relevant Governmental Authorities and Stakeholders in cooperation with client Take a lead role in internal environmental design reviews including development of mitigation and compensation proposals acceptable to the client Liaise with client and with Governmental Authorities as required and acting as the single point of contact for Design-Builder on all matters relating to environmental management Direct the preparation and submission to client of all plans, reports, documents and other information required Act as lead authorizing signatory for Design-Builder before the release of any new or amended plan, report or document pursuant to environmental components of Design Development Submittals, Construction Document Submittals and Project Work Schedules What You Bring to the Team:

10 years of construction industry experience in a management/supervisory position 10 years of practical environmental management experience Experience in successfully managing all Environmental Aspects of transit projects in Ontario Knowledge of Ontario's Transit Project Assessment Process and Environmental Assessement Act (Ontario) B.Sc.

degree in Environmental Engineering or a related field Comprehensive knowledge of Provincial and Federal Environmental Acts, Permits and Regulations specific to marine and upland construction Knowledge of environmental monitoring and mitigation measures for inwater and upland works (underwater noise, fish and wildlife monitoring, erosion and sediment control, environmental sampling and testing, etc.).

Specific knowledge and application of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Demonstrated ability to work within and manage HSE and environmental reporting management software Demonstrated ability in the preparation and submission of applications for environmental permits Demonstrated ability to write and produce environmental management plans, EPP’s, procedures, manuals, SOPs, and other related material as required Demonstrated capacity to work both autonomously and within a team environment Demonstrated understanding of local and international environmental systems, standards, documentation, codes of practice and regulatory requirements Demonstrated report / technical content writing skills Demonstrated good leadership, supervision, and conflict resolution skills Demonstrated ability with achieving objectives and delivering results within a team-based environment Demonstrated ability to handle competing priorities and deadlines Ability to adapt and respond to new environments and circumstances Ability to create and support a positive work environment within the QHSE team, exceptional communication, listening and problem -solving skills What Makes us Aecon Proud:
