ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY Based at the Detour Lake Mine site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a TeleremoteTrainingSpecialist to join our Mine Operations team, reporting to the Drill and Blast Superintendent.
Detour Lake is the second largest gold producing mine in Canada with the largest gold reserves and substantial growth potential . The open pit mine is located in northeastern Ontario, approximately 300 kilometers northeast of Timmins and 185 kilometers by road northeast of Cochrane, within the northernmost Abitibi Greenstone Belt.
The mine is situated in the area of the historic Detour Lake open pit/underground mine operated by Placer Dome which produced 1.8 million ounces of gold from 1983 to 1999.
The Detour Lake operation has a mine life of approximately 22 years with an average gold production of 659,000 ounces per year.
The TeleremoteTrainingSpecialist will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining Teleremote activities as well as Teleremotetraining programs while providing effective in-field and classroom-based instruction and assessments.
RESPONSIBILITIES Your responsibilities will include:
Provide in-field and classroom-based instruction in accordance with the master training matrix and progression plans, specifically all Viper operators on how to operator the teleremote system efficiently; Troubleshoot the system if problem arise; Administer testing material to evaluate competency levels in both theoretical and practical applications; Assist trainees by providing on-going mentoring to attain higher levels of competencies and skill sets; Complete regular reviews of curriculum and update as required to ensure effective delivery and adherence to legislation; Track training progress and effectiveness; Provide reports on completed training sessions and individualized trainee progress; Develop training curriculum related to manufacturer’s specifications and operational/maintenance procedures, corporate and regulatory standards and objectives; Stay current with mining operations and changes to equipment and procedures; Ensure adherence to document control procedures and best practices.
Documentation control QUALIFICATIONS Our ideal candidate has:
Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent; Minimum 5 years’ experience operating production drills in an open pit mining environment; 3 years experience with tele-remote drills.
Experience working with Epiroc Pit Viper 271 drills, DM45 drills, D65 drills and surface manager; Experience with RCS 5 system; MTCU surface miner common core and specialty modules; Train the trainer qualification; Proficiency with MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint.
In addition you will have:
Experience developing training programs; Strong communication and presentation skills; Ability to motivate and influence others; Attention to detail.
