About the Team Machine Learning Data Engineering at Workday underpins nearly all of Workday's machine learning and AI products.
Come make an impact! The MLDE Team is responsible for getting, managing, and making useful the data that Machine Learning Engineers need in order to develop machine learning models and data-backed products.
The team's core competencies span large areas of software and data engineering and include data pipeline and data lifecycle engineering, governance, cost and process optimization, and developer productivity tools and services.
About the Role About the Role:
As a SoftwareEngineer on the MLDE Team, you will have the opportunity to help build a data platform to serve Workday's Machine Learning Engineers.
You will demonstrate your existing experience and continue to grow and make an impact in the following areas:
Design, develop, and deliver software that moves the business forward Work with a dedicated team to uncover areas of novel improvement and unique opportunities within Workday's specific needs Work with and learn from Workday's engineering staff and processes Continue to operate MLDE's services with a high quality of service Find and execute on opportunities for improvement and future work to grow the Data Engineering and Machine Learning areas Onboarding - we expect that within 30, 60, and 90 you will be focusing on the following:
30 days:
Company familiarization with values, processes, products Gain access to all systems that you will need Understand the roadmap and processes Start committing production code, with help, to a key service 60 days:
Gain an understanding of the team's services and roadmap Provide feedback across the team Participate in prioritization of new issues Comfortable with development in some team services Begin shadowing support incidents and requests 90 days:
Begin to offer suggestions to create and improve new features Feel like a subject-matter-expert for one or more services Handle common support requests Participate in team's on-call rotation About You You're an engineer who is excited to make an impact, has some production experience in softwareengineering, and some exposure to and interest in data engineering and machine learning.
Basic Qualifications 3 or more years' experience using Java, Python, or Go 3 or more years of proven experience with AWS/GCP/Azure Proven experience working with production systems Other Qualifications Excellent communication skills (we are doc-focused) Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and related deployment tooling Experience with SaaS ML Tooling offerings such as Databricks or Sagemaker Experience with API documentation tools (e.g.
Swagger) Workday Pay Transparency Statement The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below.
Workday pay ranges vary based on work location.
As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
