Interested in learning more about the CNSC? Visit nuclearsafety.gc.ca What you’ll do Reporting to the Team Lead, Regulatory Communications, the Senior Communication Advisor is a senior member of CNSC’s Regulatory Communications team.

You are expected to lead on complex files in support of CNSC’s mandate, providing expert strategic communications advice and support on a daily basis, while mentoring junior staff.

You should be a strong writer who has experience synthesizing complex scientific and technical information into public-friendly digital content.

Senior Advisors on the Regulatory Communications team should also be experienced in crisis communications, and be up to date on the latest communications practices, tools and trends.

Essential Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in communications, journalism, or public affairs, or equivalent combination of education (minimum High School diploma) and relevant experienceLanguage Requirements:

Various language profilesEnglish essentialBilingual imperative with proficiency at BBB level.

•Extensive experience in providing analysis, strategic communications advice and recommendations to senior management and clients.•Leading the development and implementation of communication strategies, plans and tools for key organizational priorities.•Managing issues, including media responses.•Managing the communication lifecycle, ensuring successful implementation, delivery and evaluation.•Developing and/or overseeing the production of a wide-range of communications products and activities.•Mentoring and advising team members in the provision of communication services.Knowledge of:

•Knowledge of CNSC mandate, priorities and activities.

•Significant knowledge of the preparation of communications plans and strategies in response to a variety of communication issues.

•Significant knowledge of communications trends and best practices.•Knowledge of Government of Canada communications policies and procedures.Ability to:

• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

• Manage issues, including the early identification of strategic communications issues, and advise senior management .

• Synthesize information and convey in plain language using a range of communications tools/mediums.

• Evaluate the effectiveness of communications and consultation activities and identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions.

• Plan, organize and coordinate multiple files with minimal supervision.

• Solve problems with minimal supervision.
