At the Department of Public Works (DPW), we manage 23,000 kilometers of roads and highways, and 4,100 bridges, as well as 2,400 buildings , across NovaScotia .
We also provide leadership in determining infrastructure needs more broadly and in finding funding solutions to meet those needs through collaboration with other departments and levels of government.
We are currently seeking an ExecutiveDirector,Partnerships and FundingPrograms, to provide strategic leadership for a diverse portfolio which includes the delivery of cross-government strategies for provincial capital planning and infrastructure fundingprograms. About Our Opportunity As the ExecutiveDirector,Partnerships and FundingPrograms, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you provide strategic vision and leadership of a division that advances a broad and long-term vision for provincial infrastructure with a deep understanding of both needs and affordability.
Your results are enhanced through effective collaboration and fostering of relationships inside and outside of government.
Primary Accountabilities Primary accountabilities in this role include:
Providing vision and leadership in government-wide capital planning with responsibility for the related advisory services provided to other departments and agencies.
Optimizing federal infrastructure funding opportunities and championing provincial interests in the development and administration of new and existing federal fundingprograms.
Providing executive leadership for strategic planning, priority setting and oversight of the department’s operations, including municipal engagement initiatives and community grants.
Contributing highly creative solutions to a wide range of complex policy priorities and matters impacting the department, government, and the public.
Building and supporting a high performing team and championing a respectful and positive workplace.
Qualifications and Experience A creative and strategic individual with a problem-solving mindset, several years of relevant and progressive leadership experience, and with the basis of a professional accounting, finance or engineering degree, is required for the position.
An acceptable equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered in the lieu of the degree requirement.
As the ideal candidate, you have considerable experience in strategic planning, providing fiscal advice, building positive relationships within and outside government, and effectively fostering trust and collaboration among colleagues and other stakeholders. In addition, you have been involved with federal infrastructure fundingprograms and capital planning.
Your communication and interpersonal skills are exceptional.
