The Role As the Community Relations Specialist (CRS), your excellent communications skills will help you provide leadership and strategic advice to identify, develop and support community, government and other stakeholder relations in a manner that is positive, focused and coordinated with CLBC's overall strategy.

Key responsibilities include:

Provides communications support and advice to regional staff on navigating family and service provider conflicts, drafts and edits key correspondence, and responds to Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) inquiries.

Develops and implements proactive regional public relations plans that build internal and external stakeholder confidence in CLBC, and provide clarity and understanding of CLBC's roles and responsibilities Advises the CEO, director, senior managers, and manager regarding goals and objectives, priorities and current and emerging key stakeholder issues that impact the design and implementation of community relation strategies Creates innovative strategies to anticipate, identify and respond to multiple stakeholder interests to promote the positive work CLBC is undertaking both provincially and locally Liaises with field management and staff to determine requirements for communications materials, resources for community engagement, and to seek opportunities for inclusion with community partners.

This includes providing support to regions during emergencies and significant changes Anticipates and identifies current and potential conflicts from diverse interest groups which may negatively impact the confidence of families, self-advocates and community partners in CLBC's strategic initiatives Use social media as a strategic tool to connect and educate the people CLBC serves, CLBC staff, stakeholders, community partners and the general public to build confidence in, and awareness of, CLBC, its role, responsibilities and initiatives Works closely with field staff, service providers, and Community Councils to identify and track newsworthy activities within CLBC with the objective of generating story pitches that will help build a positive reputation for CLBC Evaluates and assesses communication projects and activities to ensure there is coordination between community relations strategies and other activities Supervises contractors on various projects and performs other related duties as required.

You will stand out if you have:

Solid understanding of the linkages between the public, and the elected and administrative spheres of all orders of government.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the development of communication plans to support organizational projects.

Demonstrated experience using industry-standard communications-related software, such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively and form relationships with people at a variety of levels within an organization including senior management, government officials, non-profit providers and community members.

Ability to demonstrate tact and discretion in preparing, disclosing and handling information of a confidential and/or sensitive nature.

Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science or an equivalent and relevant discipline Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of related experience An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered Hybrid work Combines on-site office work with flexibility to work from home within BC for up to three days a week.

Location:

This position may work from any major CLBC office:

Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna, Nanaimo, Prince George.

Travel Occasional overnight travel may be required.
