The Community Dance department plays a key role in NBS’ mission, providing equitable and inclusive dance programming that engages Canadians of all ages and abilities, with a focus on supporting wellbeing and creating broad, positive social impact.

The Community Arts Coordinator will work with the Community Dance Department to support the planning, implementation and evaluation of key special projects, with a focus on NBS’ LEAD (Leadership, Empowerment, Action, Dance) National Summit.

In this role, individuals will work closely with NBS’ Community Dance Teachers and Managers developing skills and competencies related to community-engaged dance practice and arts administration.

In addition to work within Community Dance, the role will include collaborative projects with other NBS departments including the Young Dancers Program and Brand Engagement.

Major Duties and Responsibilities Support the day-to-day activity of the Community Dance Department, including engaging with and creating a welcoming environment for a broad range of participants.

Assist with planning and execution of NBS' LEAD National Summit, including event coordination and serving as a Youth Mentor Support departmental communications and generate reports as required Aid with records maintenance; support data collection/entry related to program evaluation and reporting Qualifications and Experience High School or Post-secondary education Passion for equitable and inclusive practices in dance Experience or interest in working with children/youth or other vulnerable populations (e.g.

Older Adults) Experience as a dancer and/or dance teacher
- please note all dance forms and styles (e.g.

Afro-Caribbean, Powwow, Contemporary) are welcomed and considered an asset Strong customer service, problem solving, and interpersonal skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills As per the requirements of Canada Summer Jobs, applicants must:

Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period; Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and, Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
