This individual shall support our quality assurance process and shall serve as a technical representative to BER’s commercial clients.
This role includes review of commercial energy models and providing technical support for these clients, in addition to these core responsibilities this role will support BER’s professional services (ProServ) team, assisting this department with estimating project costs, building energy modeling, HVAC design services, including technical support, program documentation completion and assisting with client program submissions and experience in these areas is considered an asset.
Responsibilities Quality Assurance Review of ASHRAE building models, associated Performance Path Calculators, Proposed Design and As-Built Documentation including ongoing file, field & virtual reviews.
Performing professional services on behalf of BER clients, including commercial and residential energy models and HVAC design calculations Management, scheduling and reporting of all quality assurance & field mentoring activities Provide technical support to BER clients via phone, email & BER’s client portal, Assistance with development of training curriculum focused on commercial energy efficiency program and code programs, energy modeling, etc. Represent BER at conferences, tradeshows and local industry related events.
Minimum Qualifications Experience with green building and energy efficiency programs such as NECB 2011, ASHRAE 90.1, LEED, ENERGY STAR Multifamily New Construction, etc.
Commercial energy auditing and energy modeling experience using RETScreen & eQuest High degree of computer literacy, including fluency in MS Windows, Office, etc.
Knowledge and experience in working with and performing takeoffs using architectural and engineering plans, details and specifications.
Strong knowledge of building science, HVAC, construction, energy efficiency programs and industry standards.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience in customer service and support.
Additional Preferred Qualifications Manual J, S, D, and T modeling experience and/or ACCA certification, using Wrightsoft and/or Elite.
Commercial energy auditing and energy modeling experience using COMcheck, OpenStudio, Trane Trace, DesignBuilder, IES, WUFI, etc.
Significant experience as an Energy Rater or modeler, having rated homes using HOT2000, REM/Rate, Ekotrope, EnergyGauge, etc.
LEED / PHIUS / BPI / IR, etc.
certifications Architectural or engineering degree or professional certification Knowledge and experience with field tools (blower door, duct testing, commissioning, ventilation, IR, etc.), and performing field inspections, data collection and verification.
ASHRAE Building Energy Modeling Professional certification.
Current NRCAN QAS or RESNET QAD certification This role specifically reports to the Director of Canadian Operations and works in cohesion parallel to all departments at BER. It is our mission to provide the best customer service in the industry and this position is pivotal to that success.

However, travel will be required for the quality assurance and fieldwork components of this position.
