About the Opportunity The ClinicalTherapist is a member of the Child & Adolescent Service, MentalHealth and Addictions.
Reporting to the Manager, the ClinicalTherapist provides assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and crisis management for clients.
The ClinicalTherapist carries out the general duties of the Child & Adolescent Service team but in addition to those duties, participates in quality initiatives in the program of care, engages in collaborative person-centred care, and utilizes available information technology to support best practice.
The ClinicalTherapist receives and provides supervision and mentorship as part of a community of practice.
It is an expectation that the ClinicalTherapist will act in a professional and ethical manner, following all recognized codes of ethics, standards, legislation, and guidelines relevant to clinical practice and profession.
They will convey respect and a solid understanding of subtle and complex diversity and inclusion issues as they relate to specific groups.
About You We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
Master’s degree in a clinicalhealth-related discipline (Masters in Social Work, Psychology (Registered, Masters), Masters in Counseling, Masters in Nursing, Masters in Occupational Therapy) Must be registered with the relevant regulatory body Two years’ related experience required (including assessment and planning, treatment and intervention and discharge planning).
Non Violence Crisis Intervention (NVCI) preferred Suicide Risk Assessment preferred In-depth and critical understanding of the principles of harm reduction, the dynamics of addiction and evidence based interventions for the treatment of addiction.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of standard criteria used (DSM V) for the classification and diagnosis of mentalhealth disorders.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills in individual/ group cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psycho educational groups.
Excellent problem-solving, organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks Demonstrated knowledge and skills in crisis intervention, suicide and violence risk assessment/ intervention Non-violent crisis intervention, Standard First Aid, CPR, MentalHealth First Aid training required.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently with limited supervision and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
Basic competencies in relation to identifying and treating concurrent mentalhealth and substance use disorders Experience in interviewing, counseling and teaching health concepts to individuals, families and groups.
