You will be at work sites, so you need them. What you will do day-to-day:
Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, application of safe practices, compliance with applicable Acts and safety regulationsPerform pre/ post trip inspections on equipment and load, ensuring safety and roadworthinessComply with applicable legislation including safe operation, carriage of goods, driver's hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, customs and immigration and weights and dimensionsManeuver trucks into loading or unloading positions; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.Check vehicles before driving them to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.Operate equipment such as truck mike phone to exchange necessary information with dispatch, managers, or other drivers.Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable provincial and federal regulations.Record and maintain required documentation, including driver logbook, bills of lading, etc.Communicate effectively with the public, government officials, customers, and co-workersPlacarding of unitsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.Exposure to noise, dust, odors, fumes, and oils may occurYou will frequently be required to stand, talk, and listenDeliver products and proper paperwork to our customers in a courteous and timely mannerInspection of site tanks for damage or faulty equipmentProvide feedback to Dispatcher regarding the customer, mechanical, or delivery problemsThorough washing of vehicle, inside and outComplete and turn in all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift.
May include, but is not limited to, Driver daily logs, TDG documentation including fuel lading forms (declining balance), bills of lading, inspection logs, delivery receipts, vehicle inspection, hours of service, etc.What you will do occasionally:
Train others when requiredGreasing of the unit in between servicing as instructed by AFDTire Chain maintenance, repair, installation, and removalReport vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.Minor roadside repairs such as lights, loose fittings, airline repairs, etc.What you need to succeed:
2+ years’ experience in fuel hauling is an asset or 2 years' experience driving Super B or related equipment. 2+ years of direct work experience in a Class 1 Driving Capacity with hauling liquids. Professional operation of MANUEL transmission is mandatory for all applicants. All applicants must have a valid class 1 license with 5 years clean abstract.
Abstract must be attached to all applications.Knowledge of MS Office, and e-mail requiredAbility to work in a fast-paced, demanding environmentH2S Alive, First Aid and CFA – CPPI (Considered an asset)Positive attitude.Experience with off road, mountain, and winter drivingFollow safe practices set in place by customer and AFD facilitiesBasic knowledge of apps on the phone and e-logsCapable of performing minor maintenance and repairs on trucks if neededAbility to reset on the road if requiredAble to work in a fast-paced environmentAll applicants will be required to pass a drug/alcohol test, criminal background check and 50lb fitness test.***Driver with Tri Quad experience will be preferred for this position** * You will be travelling to Northern BC and Whitehorse as per business needs*** AFD Petroleum WhitehorseYukon
