The successful candidate will be aware and sensitive to the housing needs of the Indigenous and Non-Indigenous people.

The Caretaker will ensure MHS is represented in a professional, responsible, and respectful way at all times.Living accommodation, relocation, and wage may be negotiated for the right candidate.This position is full-time, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 8:

Respond to tenant requests for repairs and maintenance by creating work ordersTroubleshoot and preform minor repairs and maintenance such as patching drywall, recalk plumbing fixtures, fix light fixtures, etc.Maintain cleanliness at sites such as picking up garbage and cleaning up debrisParticipate in inspections as requiredAssist with unit turnover by cleaning and conducting light repairs and maintenanceServe various notices to tenantsWork with outside trades contractors on general maintenanceComplete paperwork, inspection forms, work orders, and other documentation as requiredParticipate in the on-call schedule and responding to emergency calls in the evenings and weekendsOther related duties as required from time to timeRequirements:

3+ years of experience in building maintenanceWorking knowledge of applied trades such as electrical, plumbing, or carpentry (no ticket required)Strong time management and prioritization skillsExperience and skilled at using MS Office as well as an iPad; Ability to relay information in a calm, polite and respectful manner to community membersExperience working with Indigenous communities considered an assetOther:

Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License, Clean Driver’s AbstractHave a reliable vehicle to carry tools and for hauling suppliesProvide clear Criminal Record Check prior to hiring, costs covered by M’akolaWillingness to follow M’akola policies and proceduresAvailable to take calls outside of regular work hoursSupply own tools of the trade; Completed First Aid– Level 1 (can complete once hired and paid for by M’akola)Fully vaccinated from Covid 19, as per M’akola policyWe hire employees of all cultures including Indigenous and non-Indigenous.
