Within the Health System Planning and Quality Branch, the AcuteCare Policy Unit is a high-performing, demanding, fast-paced work environment, dedicated to developing and supporting strategies, policies, and legislation underpinning Alberta's acutecare system.
Working with Alberta Health Services and major health system stakeholders (e.g.
Covenant Health, College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, Alberta Medical Association, Health Quality Council of Alberta, etc.), the Unit aligns acutecare policies with government priorities and strategic directions.
A key responsibility includes working with health system partners to ensure an integrated approach to ensuring acutecare policies are aligned with the Government of Alberta's mandate for the provincial health system.
Role Responsibilities1) The Manager,AcuteCareQuality & Performance, in the AcuteCare Division will lead a team responsible for:
Leading strategic policy and legislation development related to quality improvement and performance for acutecare and Emergency Health Services Providing leadership, in alignment with the Director, the development of core policy products such as reports, briefing notes, slide decks, summary tables, legislative charts.
Briefing senior management on policy, legislation, data and research respecting health system performance, quality and patient safety Mentoring and supervising team members to ensure concise and robust policy advice, approaches to research and data analysis and interpretation and presentation of it, and government processes, including grants administration and management, ARTs, etc.
2) The Manager,AcuteCarePlanning, in the AcuteCare Division will lead a team responsible for:
Planning, stakeholder engagement, and identifying gaps and barriers in the health system, to advance health system planning priorities and improve outcomes of care.
Providing leadership, strategic perspective, and direction and provided to the ministry to oversee delivery and reporting on provincial acutecareperformance.
Developing an acutecareperformance dashboard and establish regular reporting cadence to Albertans on the performance (e.g., ED wait times, surgical wait times, EMS wait times, etc.).
Ensuring that planning, quality and standards frameworks are integrated with policy and/or legislative reviews and/or revisions, which might be impacted by new models of care.
